About Course
This is a course for preparing for a Learner’s Permit.
This driver’s manual course/re-examination will allow you to re-take the Driver’s Exam at the DMV after 3 failures (the 3x
fail course). After taking this class, you will be able to re-take the Driver’s Exam at the DMV as many times as needed.
As of July 1, 2016 juveniles will be allowed to take this 8-hour course, provided they have successfully completed the
classroom portion of driver’s education. Please bring your Green Card, proof of completion (DEC-1) or DTS-36 from
another driving school.
Before you begin this class, you should know:
- To benefit from this course, you must be able to work independently with a computer
- This manual course is through a DMV-licensed driver training schoolThis is an 8-hour course based on the Virginia Driver’s manual and is designed to better prepare students for the general knowledge test. This course must be completed in its entirety prior to the issuance of the certificate of completion
- Students under 18 years who fail the general knowledge test 3 times:
- If you complete the required classroom portion of driver’s education (completing 36 50-minute classroom sessions) after you fail 3 times, you may present your certificate of completion, such as a DEC-1 (from a public or private school) or DTS-36 (from a DMV-licensed driver training school to satisfy the three-times failure requirement.
- If you complete the classroom component of the driver education before failing the knowledge test 3 times, you may take the eight-hour driver’s manual course online or in person to satisfy the three times failure. You must provide your certificate of completion such as a DEC-1 ((from a public or private school) or DTS-36 (from a DMV-licensed driver training school) to the email address of the school that will be providing the Driver’s Manual course before you enroll in the course.
- The student must print certificate of completion using the free Adobe Reader to download the certificate. It must be printed on 8½” x 11” plain white bonded paper. DMV will not accept certificates printed on color or special-design paper or paper with any form of advertisement on the front or back

It was really good and very informational! It’s just a little complicated with the documents and it only being one tests! I thought it was 2, but instead it’s 2 documents for all the questions on one test!
